Wellness Services
Wellness care is the cornerstone of keeping your pet healthy and maximizing their quality of life. Our health care team will advise you on vaccinations and parasite prevention tailored to your pet’s lifestyle and age. We also offer nutrition and dental counseling to optimize the health of your pet.
Early diagnosis of a disease process can help your pet lead a longer, healthier life. Our doctors can discuss age-appropriate laboratory tests for your pet to help with early disease detection.
Puppy Wellness
Our puppy wellness program is designed to offer your new puppy all the benefits of veterinary services available to him or her from 6 to 16 weeks of age. Included in this service is a series of examinations and vaccinations including rabies, distemper, parvovirus, etc. In addition, your puppy will be tested for worms and be treated for the most common intestinal worm of puppies – roundworms. Roundworms can cause gastrointestinal signs such as vomiting and / or diarrhea. There are other parasites that can cause similar symptoms and can even cause your puppy to become anemic (low red blood cells). Performing a fecal test will allow us to treat your puppy accordingly. We recommend that you please bring in a stool sample from your puppy when you come in for a visit. Although some worms are visible to the naked eye, most worm burdens are diagnosed by examining the stool of your puppy microscopically.
Kitten Wellness
We recommend preventive care that is tailored to each individual pet's age and lifestyle. This includes vaccinations, parasite control programs, and wellness testing based on your pet's life stage.
Medical Services
Our knowledgeable staff and our facilities allow us to deal with various medical conditions your pet may experience. We hope we do not have to see you or your pet for a major illness, but we are equipped to handle the situation if we do. In some cases, your pet may require hospitalization and further diagnostic tests. The diagnostics we offer include digital radiology, EKG, in-house blood work, fecal, and urine testing.
If your pet requires hospitalization, we can provide your pet with many types of advanced services they may need. These services include continuous rate infusion for IV fluids and medications, oxygen therapy, blood transfusions, appropriate pain management, and nutritional support, including feeding tube placement.
Surgical Services
We perform a wide variety of surgical procedures ranging from spays and neuters to complex soft tissue and emergency procedures.
Anesthesia & Patient Monitoring
All patients undergoing general anesthesia at our practice have preoperative blood work and intraoperative IV fluids to provide an extra margin of safety. We place a heavy emphasis on pain management, starting it before surgery even begins, to keep your pet as comfortable as possible. Vital signs are monitored closely by a skilled veterinary technician during anesthetic procedures. Monitoring includes blood pressure, EKG, pulse oximetry, end tidal CO2 and body temperature.
Pain Management and Control
We know the issue of pain management is of great concern to pet owners today. As in human medicine, we have a variety of medications available to manage your pet’s pain both before and after surgery and in the event of trauma. We would be pleased to discuss the options available to you and your pet under any of the above circumstances.
Dentistry
Our dental services include ultrasonic teeth cleaning and polishing, dental x-rays, oral surgery and extractions. Digital dental x-rays allow us to look for dental disease below the gumline that may be causing pain and infection.
Laser Therapy
Laser therapy is a non-invasive way to reduce pain and inflammation and speed the healing process by inducing a biological response called photobiomodulation. We use a class IV therapeutic laser to deliver a laser light beam to the affected area of the body. We use it for post-operative pain and inflammation and the management of conditions such as wounds, intervertebral disc disease, and arthritis. Your pet will wear a pair of goggles to protect their eyes from the laser beam.
Radiology
Our state-of-the-art digital x-ray equipment provides high quality radiographs to aid in the diagnosis of many disorders. Radiographs are read by board certified radiologists at The Ohio State University Veterinary Medical Center.
Ultrasound
We utilize a real-time telemedicine service with a certified ultrasonographer who guides and directs us as we perform ultrasound studies in our office.
Electrocardiography Services
We provide ECG services using a sophisticated device that transmits directly to cardiology specialists.
Laboratory
Our in-house laboratory is fully equipped to provide a wide range of testing, including chemistry, hematology, coagulation, blood gas, parasite testing, urinalysis and urine culture. We also have access to specialized veterinary laboratories.
Microchip Pet Identification
Microchipping has become a very popular and safe way to permanently identify your pet and you as the owner in the unfortunate case that your pet is lost. A needle is used to inject a small electronic chip, the size and shape of a piece of rice, just under the skin in the neck area.
If your pet becomes lost and is transported to a humane society, the humane society will be able to scan your pet for the chip and contact you. The scanner is similar to a scanner found in the grocery store.
We advise you to use this system of identification as well as a collar identification system on your pet.
