Dr. Krystal Ann Schmid

Dr. Krystal Ann Schmid is a 2011 graduate from Mississippi State University's College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Schmid grew up in the foothills of northeast Georgia and went to the University of Georgia for her undergraduate studies. Dr. Schmid knew from an early age that she wanted to be a veterinarian. She grew up with horses, dogs, cats, pocket pets, goats, and even a hermit crab. Dr. Schmid showed quarter horses and barrel racing during her teenage years and continued through veterinary school.

Dr. Schmid practiced equine sports medicine exclusively for 2 years following veterinary school then switched over to small animal practice. Dr. Schmid's favorite breed of dog is the miniature long haired dachshund due to their loving, needy, brave, and loyal personalities. Dr. Schmid lives in the area with her husband, David (a local dentist), their daughter, Mariella Jane, and 2 dogs (a silver labrador named "Cooper" and miniature longhaired dachshund named "Charlie")

In Dr. Schmid's spare time she loves spending time with her family, watching movies, and traveling, especially to Walt Disney World. It is a typical day to hear Dr. Schmid humming tunes around the clinic from one of her daughter's favorite Disney movies or shows. Dr. Schmid feels blessed to be able to help care for the animals in her community.
